Local Parks, Resorts, and Beaches

Eagles Embrace Naturist Nest

Eagles Embrace Naturist Nest, near Clayton, Ontario, is a beautiful parkland exclusively for naturists where families can enjoy time out in nature au naturel. Featuring community areas, ground camping, platform camping, trailer space (boon-docking), small cabins, outhouses, hot shower, salt water pool, hot tub, sauna, swimming pond (in the making), free parking & more.

Formerly a spiritual healing retreat that occasionally welcomed naturist events, a few years ago Cat, your hostess, converted the facility to a full-time naturist venue. Although now focusing on a different clientele, it still retains many of its former spiritual aspects. You can wander the trails and commune with nature. Perhaps you will even encounter some of the abundant wildlife that inhabits the property. You can revitalize your spirit through quiet contemplation in the sacred grove or avail yourself of a variety of therapeutic treatments that are available for body and soul. The property has many water features — lake, river, pond, pool, and hot tub — where you can swim, canoe, fish or just lounge as the mood strikes you. The Nest hosts a number of special events each year, including music festivals and themed weekends.

The venue is rustic and visitors should be aware that amenities are basic — don’t expect to find flush toilets here. Do expect to be warmly welcomed by Cat and the regulars. The main areas of the resort are relatively flat and should not impose a significant challenge for those with mobility issues.

East Haven Sun Club R.V. Resort

Set on 70 acres , bordered by crown forest, East Haven Sun Club R.V. Resort offers secluded well-spaced camp sites and summer cottages with a full complement of recreational facilities and social activities.

East Haven is the place to go for those who like to camp in style, providing large pull through RV sites with full hook-up as well as tenting sites (either primitive or with electricity). The terrain is flat with well-maintained roadways and paths and the grassed areas are kept well-groomed.

A popular gathering spot is the large, heated outdoor pool with surrounding lounging area. Nearby is a hot tub for those who like it even hotter. A major social occasion here is the weekly Saturday night themed dance in the clubhouse. Other popular activities include horseshoes, petanque, shuffleboard and volleyball.

Families should note that East Haven is an adults only facility to which children not admitted. The club also imposes restrictions on visits by singles. Unless part of a group or visiting a seasonal resident, singles are limited to a day pass (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.). To avoid surprises, singles should check with club management before planning an overnight stay.

Sunward Naturist Park

Sunward Naturist Park, located near Calabogie, Ontario, provides naturist families, couples and singles with the opportunity to relax, au naturel, by a secluded, clean, spring-fed private lake at a small, low-key, family-friendly naturist campground. Stunningly beautiful, once you visit this rustic spot, you will never want to leave.

As a new visitor, you can expect to receive a warm welcome from the regulars — especially if you happen to play volleyball! Special events take place throughout the summer including potluck dinners and themed dances at the gazebo on long weekends, Sara Hardy’s annual Body Image Day workshop for women, casino and games nights, a yoga and meditation day, a guided hike around the lake, a movie night, and the Don Adams Memorial Tennis Ball Golf Tournament and Games Day.

However delightful the park may be, before visiting one should be aware that the rugged, hilly nature of the area makes it challenging for those with limited mobility. The park is off grid, so while there are flush toilets and hot showers, there is no electricity and no trailer hook-ups of any kind. Due to narrow roads with tight turns and steep grades as well as limited parking, Sunward is not suitable for large RVs and motor homes. As only a limited number of camping spots are available, those planning to camp should check with the owners before visiting.

Jewel Lake Wilderness Family Naturist Resort

Unfortunately, Jewel Lake Wilderness Family Naturist Resort, which was located in the North Bay, Ontario region, closed several years ago following the death of its owners.

Meech Lake

This is an unofficial (but once tolerated) ‘free’ beach at Meech Lake in Gatineau Park – 20 minutes from downtown Ottawa. Bring everything you need and take away everything you bring as there are no services. There is no overnight camping.

Note that there were arrests for nudity at Meech Lake in 2011 and 2012 and, in spite of almost 80 years of informal and peaceful use by naturists, the National Capital Commission (NCC) and local police declared at that time a ‘zero tolerance’ for simple naturist activities. Although there have been no arrests in recent years, naturist use of the park is now but a tiny fraction of what it once was and has largely moved away from the formerly popular areas to more remote and inaccessible areas of the park.
