Annual ON/NO BBQ and Camping Weekend 2026

Mark your calendars

The 2026 ON/NO BBQ and Camping Weekend will be held once again (as it was last year) at Dan’s private lake near Montebello, Quebec. The BBQ lunch itself will take place on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at noon but activities are planned for both Saturday and Sunday. Attendees are invited to camp Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

The details are still being finalized and will be communicated to members once they are available. However, the following is intended to give you an idea of what the venue is like and what activities are being planned. The BBQ lunch on Saturday (hot dogs, hamburgers, potato chips and soft drinks) is free for ON/NO members. Attendees are invited to bring additional food items such as salads and desserts to share. There will be small fee to reimburse Dan for the costs he will incur (such as propane for the BBQ, toilet paper and other consumables, etc.)

Preliminary Schedule for Saturday

10:00 am – Arrival of day visitors

12:30 pm – BBQ Lunch

Afternoon – Sandcastle Competition

  • Bring your own tools—shovels, buckets, rakes, spray bottles, etc.—to build your sand castle. Prizes will be awarded.

Afternoon – Games

  • Volleyball, petanque, badminton and other games that attendees choose to bring.

Afternoon – Hike

  • Trek around the lake, stopping at the creek where you can have a swim at the exit of the creek (the water is warm and the lake bottom is sandy but no diving) before heading to the natural spa to cool off after which we continue the tour and come back to the beach. (1.5 hour average)

Evening – Camp Fire and Star Gazing

  • Gather around the camp fire, and late at night, observe the shooting stars (anyone with a telescope is invited to bring it as this happens to be an ideal place and the right time of year to observe them)

Preliminary Schedule for Sunday

Morning – Hike

  • After breakfast, go for a 2 hour naturist trek on the land after which you can enjoy some free time before lunch.

Afternoon – Beach Activities

  • Body paint or mud swim at the beach or free time for other sports at the beach.

Evening – Sunset and Camp Fire

  • After dinner, observe the sunset on the west side of the lake followed by a camp fire.

Other Information

There are 3 toilets (2 very modern and one basic). There will be a hot shower installed behind the beach and a temporary shelter (20’x14’). There are 8 picnic tables at the beach and 30 beach chairs. Bring your own if you prefer. You must bring your own drinking water, sunscreen, insect repellent, and towel. At that time of the season, bugs are mostly gone.

Camping

There is plenty of camping (about 50 spots) on flat terrain. Tent, trailer, or RV are accepted (please advise Dan in advance of which mode of camping you will be using). There is no electricity nor any drinking water on the site.
